INSURANCE for holidays in the UK.
Since medical care is not an issue on holidays in the UK which has NHS provision, the main reason for travel insurance for UK holidays is to cover cancellation costs due to illness. If you need to cancel a booking the club is now willing to repay monies such as deposits and instalments paid to the club provided medical evidence is provided to support the cancellation. This will apply solely to the participant’s cancellation and not to any travelling companion. The club will charge £15 to cover administration costs should such a cancellation occur. We are taking this step as holiday insurance is becoming prohibitive and our wish is for members to book early without fear of financial loss. Unfortunately we cannot extend this to holidays abroad for which travel insurance is absolutely essential.
INSURANCE for holidays abroad.
If you are a UK resident, you are entitled to any medical treatment which becomes necessary, free or at reduced cost, when temporarily visiting any of the European (EU) countries as well as Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland. Only treatment provided under the state scheme is covered. You must, however, have a valid European Health Insurance Card for this entitlement. This is a credit card sized, plastic card containing your personal identification details and an identification number. Each card is valid for five years. These are obtainable and renewable through your local Post Office and we recommend that you carry this whenever you travel abroad. Remember that an EHIC does not cover you for all the medical costs that you can incur or for repatriation and is not an alternative to travel insurance. You will still need appropriate insurance to cover you for all eventualities.

Gratuities. As in 2010, gratuities are included in the holiday cost.
Leaders. Leaders are indicated for each holiday wherever possible. Please support any new leaders who join us in 2011.
